Clinical Pharmacist - GP Surgery
Location: Isle of Wight
Salary: Up to £62,000 per annum
Working Pattern: Full-Time (37.5 hours, can be worked over 4 days)

Job Summary
A large GP surgery on the Isle of Wight is seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join a multidisciplinary primary care team. The successful candidate will work alongside GPs, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and administrative staff to support patient care and optimise medicines use.
Main Duties
- Work in a patient-facing clinical role, assessing and treating patients using specialist knowledge of medicines.
- Conduct structured medication reviews, particularly for patients with chronic diseases, complex polypharmacy, and elderly or care home residents.
- Manage and support treatment for long-term conditions such as COPD and asthma.
- Act as, or train to become, an independent prescriber within the surgery.
- Provide leadership in medicines optimisation, antimicrobial stewardship, and prescribing quality improvement.
- Respond to medication queries and promote safe, effective use of medicines.
- Support self-care initiatives, minor ailment management, and appropriate use of local healthcare services.
- Collaborate with community pharmacies, hospital teams, care homes and local healthcare organisations.
- Participate in audits, clinical governance activities, and service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- MPharm degree (or equivalent)
- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
- Experience working in community pharmacy
Desirable
- Independent prescribing qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
- Understanding of the UK health and social care system
- Experience in service evaluation, project work, or quality improvement
