Advanced Practitioner - GP Surgery

Location: Weston-super-Mare
Full-Time or Part-Time
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum

Role summary
A forward-thinking, patient-centred GP practice in Weston-super-Mare is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner (ANP/AP/Paramedic) to provide autonomous, high-quality, evidence-based care within a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients independently, while contributing to service development, clinical leadership and innovation.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently assess, diagnose and manage patients with complex and diverse health needs
  • Triage patients (including digital triage), prescribe, request investigations and make referrals
  • Deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care across acute, minor illness and long-term conditions
  • Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments
  • Interpret investigations and formulate management plans
  • Provide clinical leadership, advice and support to the multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute to policy development, clinical standards and service improvement
  • Empower patients to participate in shared decision-making

Essential qualifications & requirements

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Paramedic (HCPC)
  • Advanced Practice qualification (Master's level or equivalent)
  • Qualified Independent Prescriber
  • Meets re-validation and advanced practice standards
  • Minor illness qualification

Desirable skills & experience

  • Triage qualification
  • ECG interpretation, venepuncture, pathology requesting
  • Chronic disease management (diabetes, asthma, hypertension, CHD)
  • Spirometry and immunisations
  • Women's health (cervical cytology, contraception)
