Salary: Up to £26 per hour (up to £50,000 per annum)

Job Summary

A forward-thinking GP practice is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Practice Nurse to provide clinical leadership and support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. This role combines hands-on nursing with team leadership and service development. Applications are welcome from experienced practice nurses ready to step into a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and support the nursing team (including appraisals and mentoring)
• Deliver and coordinate clinical services (chronic disease management, immunisations, wound care, cervical screening, health promotion)
• Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, infection control, and governance standards
• Contribute to audits, quality improvement, and service development
• Work collaboratively with GPs and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate clinical records (e.g. SystmOne)
• Support safeguarding, patient wellbeing, and holistic care
• Monitor performance targets (e.g. QOF/LCS)

Person Specification

Essential:

• NMC registered nurse
• Degree (or equivalent)
• 3-5 years post-qualification experience
• Primary care/practice nursing experience
• Strong clinical skills (e.g. chronic disease management, immunisations, wound care, cervical screening)
• Ability to work autonomously and maintain accurate records

Desirable:

• Leadership experience
• Chronic disease qualifications
• Non-medical prescribing (or willingness to train)
• Experience with audits, clinical governance, and venepuncture
