Job Summary

A well-established and forward-thinking GP practice in Leicester is seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day management of a busy and expanding 11,000-patient practice.

This is a senior leadership role working with an ambitious partnership, focused on innovation, digital transformation and delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

The Practice Manager will be responsible for the overall operational, strategic and people management of the practice, including:

  • Leading day-to-day operations and staff performance
  • Direct line management, HR compliance, recruitment, induction, appraisal and staff development
  • Oversight of QOF administration and NHS contractual compliance
  • Ensuring compliance with CQC, health & safety and HR legislation
  • Financial management alongside the Finance Manager, including budgets and income optimisation
  • Contract and insurance management
  • Business continuity and resilience planning
  • Policy development and governance oversight
  • Leading change, innovation, digital adoption and service improvement
  • Patient services oversight, complaints management and engagement
  • Premises management, procurement and mandatory training
  • Representing the practice at external meetings (e.g. PCN)
  • Leading communications, community engagement and the Patient Participation Group
  • Chairing practice meetings and producing agendas, reports and minutes

Person Specification - Essential Experience

  • Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience working with the general public and within healthcare
  • NHS / Primary Care General Practice management experience
  • Proven experience managing large multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong background in performance management, appraisals and staff development
  • Experience leading projects, service improvement and workforce planning
  • Experience chairing meetings and producing agendas and minutes
