Practice Nurse - Maternity Leave Cover
Up to 30 hours per week | Fixed term until February 2027
Salary up to £43,000 per annum (pro rata)
Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire
A well-established NHS GP practice in Wilmslow, Cheshire is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse to join its friendly and supportive nursing team to provide maternity leave cover until February 2027.
The post is for up to 30 hours per week, with salary up to £43,000 per annum (pro rata) depending on experience and qualifications. Previous primary care experience is essential. The successful candidate will be required to participate in extended hours one evening per week until 8pm, working alongside another nurse and a GP.
Main Duties
The Practice Nurse will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. This includes health promotion, chronic disease management, preventative care, and contributing to clinical policy and procedure review.
Key responsibilities include:
- Chronic disease management clinics (e.g. CHD)
- Treatment room duties
- Health promotion and preventative care
- Travel medicine and vaccination services
- Childhood and adult immunisations
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and disease registers
- Supporting safeguarding, audit, and clinical governance
About the Practice
The practice is a large NHS GP surgery with a patient list of approximately 10,500, supported by a strong administrative team. It is a GP training practice and part of a Primary Care Network, working collaboratively with neighbouring practices.
Person Specification
Essential
- Registered Nurse (NMC)
- Experience working as a Practice Nurse or Community Nurse
- Experience in chronic disease management
- Strong communication and IT skills (EMIS desirable)
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
