Practice Nurse - Part Time (up to 30 hours per week)
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (pro rata)
Location: Dunster, Somerset
Healthii People are delighted to be supporting a highly rated, forward-thinking GP practice in the beautiful village of Dunster, Somerset, as they seek an experienced and compassionate Practice Nurse to join their multidisciplinary team. The role involves working across two modern, well-equipped practice sites within the local area.

Role Overview
The successful candidate will provide a wide range of nursing services, working autonomously within their professional scope while collaborating closely with the wider clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support patients with long-term conditions
- Provide a full range of treatment-room services
- Perform cervical cytology
- Deliver evidence-based wound care including Dopplers and suture removal
- Conduct new-patient medicals and urinalysis
- Provide lifestyle and health-promotion advice
- Perform ECGs and venepuncture
- Carry out annual reviews and follow-up care for chronic disease management
- Administer childhood and adult vaccinations under PGDs
- Assist GPs with minor surgery and procedures
- Request pathology tests such as urine cultures and swabs
- Work in line with clinical protocols, escalating as needed
Additional Duties
- Maintain and clean clinical equipment
- Order clinical supplies and manage vaccine stocks
- Keep accurate, comprehensive patient records
- Participate in practice meetings and administrative duties
- Uphold infection-control and confidentiality standards
- Recognise and manage anaphylaxis; perform CPR as per UK guidelines
- Obtain informed consent appropriately
- Undertake occasional home visits

Person Specification
Essential
- Registered Nurse with a relevant nursing/health degree
- Commitment to ongoing CPD
- Knowledge of long-term condition management
- Strong treatment-room skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage a varied caseload
- Confident using clinical guidelines and protocols
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Minimum 2 years post-registration
- Primary care experience
- EMIS or QOF experience
- Audit or quality-improvement experience
- Experience in long-term condition management
- Understanding of local population health needs
