Practice Nurse - Part-Time (24 hours)
Location: Thaxted, Essex
Salary: Up to £43,000 (pro rata)
Closing date: Monday 12 January 2026
About the role
We are a friendly, forward-thinking GP practice in Thaxted, Essex, seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team on a part-time basis (24 hours/week). Exact days are negotiable and will include a Thursday with a 6.00pm finish.
You will run your own clinics and work closely with GPs, ANPs, ACPs, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, dispensary, and admin staff. This role is ideal for an experienced practice nurse or a secondary care nurse looking to move into primary care.
Main duties
- Chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, respiratory)
- Cervical smears and contraception services
- Wound care, suture removal, blood pressure monitoring
- Routine/childhood immunisations, travel vaccines
- ECGs, urinalysis, health promotion
- Participation in clinical meetings

Person specification
Experience: Treatment room consultations, phlebotomy, ECGs, screening, long-term condition management, vaccinations, cervical cytology, minor surgery assistance, wound care. Compassionate, empathetic approach.
Qualifications: Registered Nurse with relevant degree, 2+ years post-qualification experience in general practice or equivalent, current NMC registration, GP nursing foundation course (or equivalent), competence (or willingness to train) in asthma and diabetes clinics.
