Locum Band 6 CAMHS Practitioner (Mental Health Nurse)

  • Location: Blackpool
  • Contract: Locum - Full-time, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
  • Hourly Rate: £26+
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 3 - 6 months (with potential for extension)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 CAMHS Practitioner to join a dynamic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team on a locum basis. This role is open to qualified Mental Health Nurses (RMN) with relevant CAMHS experience.

You will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality mental health care to children, young people, and their families, focusing on assessment, intervention, and care coordination in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and risk assessments for children and adolescents
  • Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with service users and multi-agency teams
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions (CBT, DBT-informed, systemic, etc.)
  • Act as a care coordinator for a defined caseload
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and MDT meetings
  • Work collaboratively with schools, social care, and third-sector agencies
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with trust policy

Requirements

  • Professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing (NMC)
  • Minimum 1 year's post-qualification experience working in a CAMHS or similar setting
  • Strong assessment, communication, and care planning skills
  • Able to manage risk and work effectively under pressure
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (desirable, depending on service model)
  • Enhanced DBS check (required)
  • Ability to complete assessments independently and support young people.
  • Can work to thresholds for the organisation.
  • Complete care and hospital discharge plans
  • Experience of working with risk and adapting changing risk plans
  • Can work to systems in place, complete discharge planning
  • Can look to support the team and work collaboratively
  • Experience triaging / duty support for a team and prioritizing caseload and work
  • Experience of working with young people with variety of wellbeing and mental health presentations.
  • Can signpost to appropriate services and make safeguarding referrals when needed.
  • Experience of CAMHS/ Children's child protection work
