Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Maternity Cover)
Location: Darlington, County Durham (DL3 area)
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (pro rata)
Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Fixed-term (6-9 months)
About the Role
An established, well-regarded training GP practice in Darlington is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to provide maternity cover. The practice serves approximately 15,300 patients and is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care within a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment.
You will work autonomously to assess, diagnose, and manage undifferentiated patients, providing care for new presentations and exacerbations of chronic conditions. The role offers flexibility in working days and hours, but Monday cover is essential as it is the practice's busiest day.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent consultations, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Prescribe and manage care plans in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Support chronic disease management and acute presentations.
- Collaborate with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and wider Primary Care Network teams.
- Contribute to staff and student teaching and mentorship within the training environment.
Requirements
- NMC Registration with Independent Prescribing (V300) - required.
- Minimum 1 year of ANP experience in General Practice or Urgent Care - preferred.
- Strong clinical decision-making and patient assessment skills.
- Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care.
Contract Details
- Duration: 6-9 months (maternity cover)
- Hours: 25-37.5 per week (flexible; Monday required)
- Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (pro rata)
- Start date: As soon as possible (subject to notice period and onboarding)
