Practice Nurse - Join Our Friendly Training Surgery

Location: Truro, Cornwall
Hours: Around 32 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (pro rata, dependent on experience)

About the Role

Healthii People are recruiting on behalf of a well-established training GP surgery in Truro, Cornwall, caring for approximately 9,500 patients across multiple sites.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join a friendly and supportive clinical team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care, chronic disease management, health promotion, and vaccination services within a progressive, patient-focused, and education-driven environment.

As a training practice, there is a strong emphasis on professional development, with opportunities to share knowledge, learn from colleagues, and grow within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, and discharge patients in line with clinical guidelines and best practice
  • Manage chronic disease reviews (e.g., diabetes, COPD, asthma, heart failure, learning disabilities)
  • Provide wound care, including simple and complex dressings (e.g., leg ulcers)
  • Undertake cervical smears, contraception and pill checks, and support women's health clinics
  • Take pathology specimens (bloods, swabs, etc.)
  • Participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes, both in-practice and during home visits
  • Promote health education and empower patients to self-manage conditions
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and appropriate coding

What We're Looking For

Essential:
✅ RGN diploma/degree with valid NMC registration
✅ Experience working within a GP practice
✅ Excellent organisational and communication skills
✅ Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
✅ Commitment to professional development and high standards of patient care

Desirable:
✅ Experience managing long-term conditions
✅ Familiarity with SystmOne
✅ Experience supporting patients with learning disabilities
