Practice Nurse
Location: Plymouth, UK
Salary: Up to £47,000 (FTE)
Population: 12,000 patients
Hours: Part-Time/Full-Time
Role Overview
An experienced Practice Nurse role involving:
- Comprehensive primary care nursing duties - including cervical screening, baby and adult immunisations, and chronic disease management.
- Participation in health promotion and preventative care initiatives.
- Use of clinical systems for patient recalls, screening, and documentation.
- Opportunity to work within a training practice, supporting student nurses, GP trainees, paramedics, and physiotherapists.
Main Duties
- Lead or assist in health screening and promotion clinics.
- Manage nursing care for chronic conditions (e.g., Diabetes, COPD, Hypertension, Asthma).
- Deliver specialist care in infection prevention, contraception, cervical cytology, and immunisations.
- Conduct routine treatments: wound care, ECGs, phlebotomy, and general assessments.
- Support review and development of clinical policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Essential
- Registered Nurse (NMC, UK)
- Minimum 2 years post-registration
- Excellent communication, IT, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team
- Knowledge of clinical procedures and policy adherence
Desirable
- Experience in General Practice
- Cervical cytology and immunisation training (adult & child)
- Wound care and chronic disease management (esp. Diabetes)
- Interest or qualification in Diabetes (Level 6 or 7)
- Familiarity with SystmOne and clinical governance
