Practice Nurse - GP Surgery

Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester
Salary: Up to £43,000 per annum (pro rata)
Hours: Part-time (2-3 days per week)

A well-established GP surgery serving approximately 9,500 patients is seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join a supportive multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have previous primary care experience, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage long-term conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes, COPD, hypertension)
• Deliver immunisations and vaccinations, including childhood and seasonal programmes
• Provide health promotion, NHS health checks, and smoking cessation support
• Carry out cervical cytology, venepuncture, and pathology sample collection
• Offer travel health advice and vaccinations
• Maintain accurate clinical records and support LES/DES/QOF activities
• Ensure infection control, equipment maintenance, and stock management

Essential Requirements

• Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
• Experience working in primary care
• Competence in immunisations, chronic disease management, and venepuncture
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Computer literacy and accurate record-keeping

Desirable

• Experience managing chronic diseases in primary care
• Experience using the EMIS Clinical System
• Recent emergency resuscitation training
• Skills in conflict management and handling challenging situations
