Job Summary
Working as a Practice Nurse within one of our partner GP surgeries in Leicester offers a unique opportunity to provide holistic, patient-centred care at the heart of the community. Main Duties
- Health Promotion & Prevention: lifestyle advice, smoking cessation, weight management, health checks.
- Chronic Disease Management: supporting patients with diabetes, asthma, COPD, and hypertension.
- Immunisations & Vaccinations: childhood immunisations, travel vaccines, flu and COVID vaccinations.
- Screening Services: cervical cytology, NHS health checks, and routine screening programmes.
- Wound Care: acute and chronic wound management, dressings, suture removal, post-operative care.
- Treatment Room Duties: blood pressure checks, venepuncture, ECGs, ear care.
- Patient Education & Support: empowering patients to manage their health, conditions, and medications.
- Collaboration: working alongside GPs, HCAs, and other staff to deliver holistic, safe care.
- Research Support: one day per week dedicated to supporting the delivery of research within the practice.

Job Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care programmes to support health and well-being.
- Manage long-term conditions and identify patients at risk.
- Provide urgent care when required, including emergency management.
- Deliver planned and opportunistic health promotion.
- Administer vaccinations and immunisations for adults and children.
- Provide support in women's health (family planning, cervical cytology).
- Recognise and respond to mental health needs appropriately.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NMC and practice requirements.
- Uphold infection control, health and safety, and safeguarding standards.
- Participate in quality audits, service improvements, and clinical governance.
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and mentorship.
Person Specification
Essential
- Registered Nurse (NMC registration).
- Membership of a professional body.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
Desirable
- Minimum 18 months' post-registration experience in general practice or other healthcare setting.
- Working knowledge of managing long-term conditions.
